Neither Jessa or Kaitlyn is writing this blog entry... this is their mother. Only I can tell this story about our adventure in potty training with Jessa. Sorry - not too many pics this time!
Last Friday when I dropped the girls off at "school", Jessa went to the corner of her new preschool room (yes she has advanced already), wet her pull-up, and came out to me to TELL me to change her. It was then and there I knew she was more than ready to, as our friend Pam says, "put her big girl panties on!"
Isn't this the face of a big girl????

So Saturday morning, we did just that.
Let me first start by saying she is the most STUBBORN 3 year old in the world. And that is no exaggeration! (Where does she get that???) She cried, screamed, pounded her fists on the wall, stomped her feet, and made Kaitlyn cry all before 8am. Then she wet all over the floor in the bathroom. Who knew a girl could hold that much pee?
Let me tell you, we have tried and tried to bribe since December... candy, milkshakes, park outings, you name it. Nothing gets that girl motivated to perform.
Then she held it until nap time and went in her pull-up during nap. Smart little girl! One more accident on the hardwood floors that night and then to bed where she wet in her pull-up before morning.
Sunday was better - no big accidents, no pull-ups (she won't outsmart me), but I ended up with a cup full of water in my face. I will leave that one alone.
The last few days have been much more successful... with her dad. When I am not around she simply says "Daddy, I have to go potty." He says go ahead, and she gets up on the toilet and goes. Pee and poo. But as soon as I come around, she gets gun shy - lots of crying, whining, and no pee.
Should I leave for a while until it is done????
But the cute thing is Kaitlyn... she says "potty too!" At this rate, she may be potty trained fully before Jessa. heehee
In spite of everything, Jessa is doing well. Today was a successful day. No pull-ups and many successful pees and a poo both at home and school.
And Steve and I are dong well - we haven't gone crazy yet!
As a final note, Gourmet has even tried to get in on the potty training. After we came home from school this week, we found this trail of teepee. Guess Gourmet wanted to try wiping - or she was hungry!
From the bathroom...
thru the kitchen...

to the front room where her bed is. Without a single break in the roll.
Now that's talent!

Sounds like Mommy should cut out for a week or so (maybe the beach) and let Daddy knock out the potty training! Go Steve!
